When do my dental benefits renew? They just did!
Many people do not take advantage of their annual dental insurance and let it expire each year. Know your plan and your plan year to best utilize your benefits. A majority of insurance companies run on a calendar year so benefits expire on December 31, and renew for the coming year on January 1. However, this is not always the case and plans can be on a fiscal or plan year.
Again, I encourage you to know your plan, plan year, and any applicable waiting periods. If you know that you are going to need some extensive work done you can plan your dental visit for later in the plan year, then dental benefits will renew to complete treatment. This makes it more affordable to have large procedures done such as root canals and crowns, by using the available benefits from two plan years. Please remember on major services the deductible will apply in both plan years.
To make the most of your benefits, make sure to get your annual checkup and cleanings which are normally paid at 100% under the preventative coverage of your plan.
