Why did I receive a bill in the mail?
An outstanding balance with your dental office can happen for many reasons. Most bills sent by our office are a result of the dental insurance company not paying the percentage quoted. Additionally, if the dental insurance plan has been maximized, you would expect to receive a bill. Sometimes our patients need to be seen by a dental specialist (endodontist, oral surgeon, or orthodontist), and a portion of their dental benefits need to be used at the specialist’s office, thus utilizing a portion of the original benefits. This would leave less benefits available to be used at our dental office, and thus the original quotes given at our office, could be incorrect, resulting in a bill if the patient has maximized their said benefits. Our computer system allows us to update insurance coverage for each procedure, and Paula our insurance coordinator, works hard to keep it current. No treatment is performed without your consent and a signed financial estimate so you are aware of your out-of-pocket expense. While we strive to give you the best estimate possible, it is an estimate. It would be impossible for any dental office to give you 100% accurate information 100% of the time. Insurance can be complex. Therefore, you must know your plan and it’s exceptions. We will work with you to understand your benefits, and the exceptions. Please feel free to contact our office, Advanced Dentistry by Design at: (775) 400-2533. We look forward to navigating your insurance benefits with you!
